The Meadow
The Meadow is a specialist provision designed to support children with a range of additional needs, including autism, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Some pupils also benefit from support with cognition and learning development.
This nurturing environment offers personalised educational experiences, focusing on individual learning strategies and targeted interventions. The curriculum is adapted to follow a “stage not age” approach, allowing pupils to work at a level that meets their emotional and developmental needs, helping them to make meaningful academic progress.
For some children, The Meadow provides short-term nurture interventions, which may include access to the Sensory Room to support self-regulation and emotional wellbeing. Overall, the provision aims to create a safe and supportive space where pupils can thrive both socially and academically.
Planning for children in the Meadow is carried out by class teachers in conjunction with the SENCO and Assistant Headteacher who personalise planning to each child’s Boxall needs.
The Meadow is resourced by Teaching Assistants with support of the teacher, SENCO and Assistant Headteacher with home class teachers visiting the Meadow at least twice per week.
Alongside academic tasks, which are short-burst and linked to the children’s interests, a range of theraputic work is carried out to support work towards Boxall targets.
These include:
- theraplay
- cooking
- den building
